The Central Valley Marketing Meeting was sponsored by Carrollton Mortgage and had over 40 agents and affiliates in attendance. Carla Castro from the City of Modesto Crime Stoppers shared information about the efforts and successes of the local Crime Stoppers organization.
The Crime Stoppers organization began in 1976 in Albuguerque, New Mexico and has since spread to many communities across the nation. Every law enforcement agency in our community has joined forces to provide support to our local Crime Stoppers organization. Crime Stoppers is a program for people who have the interest and ability to provide tips to help in solving crimes and bringing criminals to justice and provides a reward for tips leading to the arrest of individuals involved in a crime. Cash rewards up to $1000 are awarded for anonymous tips. Tips can be called in to (209) 521-INFO (4636) or filed online at www.modestopolice.com under the "Crime Stoppers" link. Online reports are fully encoded for preservation of privacy and available in multiple languages.
Crime Stoppers is a nonprofit organization supported entirely by contributions from members of the community and fundraising efforts. Advertising and information about current "Most Wanted" criminals is generously donated by the Modesto Bee and Fox 40 News has also contributed advertising space for television broadcasting of Crime Stopper awareness and "Most Wanted" profiles.
The Crime Stoppers organization is coordinated by a board of 20 members of volunteer civilians dedicated to doing their part to create a safer community. The board members meet weekly to discuss issues, promotion, fund-raising and criminal capture updates. Crime Stoppers has now branched out to help in the fight against crime in middle schools and high schools with their Campus Crime Stoppers program.
Please contact Carla Castro, Community Service Officer, Crime Stoppers at (209) 572-9543 or by email at castrocarla@modestopd.com to schedule a presentation to your group or for any further information. Also, please share information about this outstanding program directing tips to www.modestopolice.com or (209) 521-INFO (4636).
